Bright Stars (Setare gan-e Derakhshan) the Competition on Designing Urban Symbols of Martyrs and Holy Defense Commemoration

Explanation of the service:
This competition has been organized at the request of the Isfahan Governorate to utilize the opinions and ideas of specialized and professional architects, sculptors, and graphic designers in the form of designs for use in squares, murals throughout the city, and in public spaces as memorials, sculptures, and urban decorations. Ultimately, the selected works will be used for implementation across all counties in Isfahan Province. This competition is held with the aim of enhancing the organizational identity of the urban landscape and highlighting the memory of the dear martyrs in the city of martyrdom, Isfahan, across three areas: the design of a memorial building, sculptures, and urban decorations.

Competition schedule:
•Announcement of the competition call: September 6
•Deadline for submitting works: the end of October 2024
•Judging and selecting the outstanding works: until November 6th.

Criteria and values requested in the design:
• Improving the quality of both the visual and mental landscape and aligning with religious and cultural values.
• Emphasis on the perspective and media role in narrating the cultural and religious values of martyrdom.
• Providing suitable spatial infrastructure and ensuring comfort to facilitate various events related to keeping the values of the Sacred Defense alive and introducing them to future generations.
• Analyzing the formal, qualitative, and visual values of space that, by giving meaning to urban space, leads to the formation of a sense of place identity and contributes to the continuous and sustainable enhancement of environmental quality.
• The type of materials should be considered based on the design location in Isfahan province.
• Cultural values should be presented in the form of propositions and conveyed through meaning to signs.
• Design can take the form of a memorial building, sculpture, or urban decorations.
• The placement of designed works can be in the context of urban squares or murals (for example, at city entrances) or in public spaces such as parks within cities.

Design limitations:
•In the design of the memorial building: a maximum area of 100 square meters and a maximum height of 8 meters.
•In mural design: maximum length of 15 meters and maximum height of 4 meters.
•In sculpture design: maximum height 6 meters.

Objectives of the competition:
• Creating an architectural and vibrant space with a dynamic, readable perspective that narrates the cultural and religious values of martyrdom.
• Strengthening the eventfulness of places to commemorate and protect the memories, realities, and values of the Sacred Defense and the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom.
• Adding the memories of martyrs and the Sacred Defense to the collective memories of citizens.

1. Student ID card or educational certificate of the main member or representative of the group (mandatory)
2. Image One: Idea and Analysis (Mandatory)
3. Image two: Proposed plan along with lighting and execution details, specifying the materials and materials used at a scale of 1:50 (mandatory).
4. Image three: Longitudinal and transverse sections with magnification for better introduction of the proposed design 1:50 (mandatory)
5. Image four: Bird's-eye and interior perspectives in urban landscape (mandatory)

Conditions and commitments:
• I guarantee the originality of the proposed plan and am committed to respecting all intellectual property rights of the authors and stakeholders.
• I commit to having the ability to implement my proposed plan and, if selected, to take into account all the execution requirements and expert opinions of the employer.
• The presence of a group representative at the meetings to review and present the proposal, at the invitation of the employer or the competition organizer, is mandatory.
• I have no objections regarding submissions made after the deadline, fully aware of the competition's schedule and the time limit for its completion.
• I promise to carry out the design while fully adhering to the design criteria.

The deadline for submitting objections is only one month after the announcement of the competition results.
The extension of the competition time is solely at the discretion of the permanent secretariat of the competition and is carried out to enhance the quality of the competition and if necessary.
